He really wasn't very good early in his career. He got better with time but honestly these sketches are not funny. I'm surprised he was talent scouted in the first place. Having his own show. They say theres nothing on tv these days. Even if the pool death never happened I still reckon his career would've died. Comedy like this would be considered dull today.

14:00 The inimitable Ted Moult, as I recall he was a farmer who became a well-known TV Personality for over 20 years. He had quite an interesting life…and was the first farmer in the UK to pioneer the Pick Your Own fruit concept, & he also appeared in many famous radio & TV shows including the first ever episode of Countdown on Channel 4. Sadly he committed suicide (in 1986) a year after this Everest TV ad was shown.

Interesting Night Time set up here, in that period where Meridian were still supplying the overnight presentation to HTV, Anglia and Westcountry but now adopting the generic ident. It seems that they’ve taken a leaf out of LWT’s book for the lack of overnight announcer here. Not that this was relevant once Granada bought Meridian later that year.
